Track Lab is a hands-on music production workshop where kids build an actual track from scratch — beat, melody, vocals and all — using the same tools used by professional producers.
Track Lab puts kids in the producer's chair. Using Logic Pro — the same software used by chart-topping artists — they collaborate to build a complete song from the ground up in a single session.
No experience needed. No instruments to learn first. Just ideas, decisions, and a shared track coming to life in real time.
At the end, every child downloads the song they made together. It's theirs. They made it. That feeling is something they don't forget.
Quick intro to the world of music production. What does a producer actually do? We listen to a track and break it down.
Kids take turns shaping the drum pattern. Kick, snare, hi-hat. Groove gets decided by the group. It starts sounding like something.
We layer in a bassline and a melody. Kids suggest notes and ideas. Someone discovers a riff that everyone loves. It goes in.
We grab a mic and record a sound, a voice, a clap from inside the room. This is always the highlight. The room gets loud.
Faders, reverb, a little polish. We talk about what mixing means and why it matters. The track starts to sound finished.
We bounce the track. Every kid gets the download link. We play it loud one final time. The room goes wild. Session done.
Want to go deeper? The 4-Week Course covers songwriting, arrangement, sound design and more.
The full Track Lab experience in one session. Perfect for school enrichment days, community events, and one-off bookings. Kids leave with a finished track the same day.
A deeper dive across four sessions: Rhythm & Beat, Melody & Harmony, Songwriting & Arrangement, Sound Design, and Mixing & Release. Kids develop real skills week by week and finish with a more polished track.
For the young producer who wants to go further. Their own track, their own genre, their own creative vision — with dedicated guidance throughout the process.
Track Lab is led by Julien Loreto — DJ, music producer and artist based in Toronto with over two decades of professional experience across clubs, festivals, weddings, and studio work.
Julien brings authentic, real-world music production knowledge into the workshop — not a watered-down version, but the actual tools, language and mindset of a working producer, made genuinely accessible and exciting for young creators.
The goal is simple: leave every kid feeling like they can make music. Because they just did.
